SunAn ice skating rink arrives at the gargantuan Halle am Berghain, soundtracked by an array of adventurous artists. Bring your skates (or rent a pair) and practice your ice dancing skills to eclectic and free-roaming DJ sets.
Berlin-based label and promoters Creamcake provide the soundtrack, bringing skaters sets from Alobhe, CORIN, and Larry. Warm up with a hot drink and watch the spectacle under an intimate light array courtesy of Berlin’s premier light artist Christopher Bauder, who contributes the intimate light installation FREQUENCIES. Using the live DJ sets as material, Bauder translates sound waves of different frequencies into a rapidly-changing colour palette composed of hundreds of pixels.
Please note: Ice skating at the Eishalle is undertaken at your own risk. Up to 40 people can skate simultaneously. Children under 16 must be accompanied by adults (no children under 3 allowed). Neither CTM / DISK Initiative Bild & Ton e.V. nor Berghain Ostgut GmbH are liable for any injuries. There will be no lockers on site, so please be considerate of what belongings you bring. You can rent skates for half an hour for 2 € or bring your own. The ice itself is synthetic, but please dress warmly.
There will be a bar with hot and cold beverages (but better not to skate and drink!), and lastly, please be careful and considerate of one another!
No photos allowed in the Halle. Limited capacity; first come, first served.
Alobhe (aka Iris Bauer) is a musician residing in Berlin, hell-bent on gutturally stabbing each broken genre she comes across. Raised in Hamburg but now based in Berlin, Bauer’s visceral take on future club music combines elements of electro, black metal, dark ambient, and techno to produce foreboding sonic assaults with an underlying impulse towards the industrial dancefloor.
Christopher Bauder is an artist and designer working in the fields of light and installation art, media design, and scenography. He focuses on the translation of bits and bytes into objects and environments, and vice versa.
Larry is a researcher, author, and DJ who makes things happen. As co-founder of Creamcake—an experimental platform dedicated to exploring the impact of the internet on music at the intersection of art and technology—Larry creates new spaces for action and reflection. These include political event series Europool, and experimental conference and annual “new hybrid” festival 3hd.
CORIN's productions are an assemblage of converging styles moving somewhere between grime, trance, and barqoue-laden ambience. Drawing on a background in classical piano, her live performances and DJ sets encompass technical configurations executed with equal parts emotion and cold precision. In her forthcoming album, Manifest (Bedouin Records), delicate counterpoint melodies intersect with cinematic washes of synth, culminating in dark but also playful elements of science fiction and fantasy.
