14:00 Lecture by Godfried-Willem Raes with film Man & Machine – Naked Robotic Love Story by Jesse Roesler
16:00 Performances by Peter KirnDarsha Hewitt, Mirjam Sögner and Hacklab participants

This two-part event focuses on the love of instrument-making and invention; Godfried-Willem Raes is known worldwide as a musicmaker in the largest sense of the word. Following a talk and film screening presented by Raes, participants of the MusicMakers Hacklab test their brand-new inventions, created during CTM festival week, live onstage. Hacklab host Peter Kirn presents a new audiovisual performance with collaborator Mirjam Sögner to round-out the showcase.

A composer/performer and inventor, Godfried-Willem Raes is the founder of the Logos-Group (1968), out of which grew the Logos Duo with Moniek Darge, and the experimental <M&M> (Man and Machine) orchestra, which operated with his spectacular musical robots. A prolific instrument maker, Raes has created all manner of imaginative and outrageous musical devices. Raes will give a lecture introducing aspects of his work, which will be accompanied by a film screening of Jesse Roesler's documentary on the creator, entitled Man & Machine: A Naked Robotic Love Story.

Following Raes, the culmination of a week of collaborative development at the MusicMakers Hacklab sees participating artists move from the laboratory to the performance venue. Just-created performance designs, circuits, code, and ideas will be put to the test in front of a live audience as a multidisciplinary group of creative performers share the work they've constructed over the course of the CTM festival week. Expect new work in live musical performance, movement, visuals, and surprises.

In addition, Mirjam Sögner and Peter Kirn present Chorophon, an audiovisual performance for dance soloist that explores the possibilities of presence, movement, and hybrid human/machine identities in the age of ubiquitous computation and computer vision. Inspired by Leon Theremin's partially-realized Terpsitone, the duo updates the machine/dancer interface with today's technologies.

For their performance Sögner and Kirn are joined by Anne Welence, a multi-disciplinary performance artist that mixes modern dance technique with theatrical improvisation. Born in Brandenburg and trained in Switzerland (BA, MA Theater, Hochschule der Künste Bern), Welence's work ranges from dance to dramaturgy. she has recently interpreted the role of Helvetia in Francois Chaignaud's "Vogueing Goddess," a performance work that imagines Europe through the New York street art of vogueing. After an intense week of work during CTM 2014, Welence joins Chorophon as choreographer/dramaturg/performer.
