Film by Adythia Utama and Riar Rizaldi (2014)

Documented from early 2010 until 2014 in Indonesian cities ranging from Jakarta, Bandung, Bekasi, Yogyakarta, all the way to Tokyo in Japan, the documentary Bising: Noise & Experimental Music in Indonesia gives an extensive overview of the vibrant Indonesian experimental and noise music scene, which has been blooming since the mid 90s. The film is a platform for the musicians, artists, and writers involved in the scene, giving them a place to express their artistic gestures, approaches to experimentation, and their personal definitions of noise.

Bising is screened thanks to Nusasonic, an initiative of Goethe-Institut Southeast Asia that is collaboratively curated by Yes No Wave (Yogyakarta), WSK Festival of the Recently Possible (Manila), Playfreely/Black Kaji (Singapore), and CTM Festival (Berlin).
