Berlin based Cosmo Rhythmatic label joins forces with CTM Festival and Berghain to present its first showcase. Curated by Shapednoise with the collaboration of D. Carbone and Ascion, the label will celebrate a new release by Grischa Lichtenberger and Canadian multidisciplinary artist Jesse Osborne-Lanthier, while featuring other affiliated artists: Mika Vainio & Franck Vigroux, plus Shapednoise himself in collaboration with visual artist sYn. Live appearances by Container (Spectrum Spools, Morphine Records) and Xosar (Opal Tapes, L.I.E.S.) plus a DJ set by Golden Pudel’s Nina chisels out a night of sonic intensities.

Cosmo Rhythmatic began in 2015 to broaden the focus of Shapednoise, Ascion and D.Carbone's first label, Repitch, and to function as a platform for radical new ideas in electronic music. It ventures into architectural noise, expanding the possibilities of sonic energy and researching the technical and linguistic sides of music. This mission was immediately joined by a diverse group of artists with an interest in defining new extremes. Launched with Franck Vigroux’s solo Centaure album, and followed by his collaborative 2015 album with electronic noise pioneer Mika Vainio (Pan Sonic) as well as Shapednoise’s joint release with Black Rain, the label’s sound encompasses abstract, noisy and organic sound sculpting.

The evening headlines Mika Vaino and Franck Vigroux’s collaborative live set of heavily-assembled ambiances sustained by technoid booming beats and permeated by atmospheric tension. In Shapednoise’s a/v live set, a collaboration with videomaker sYn, sound and vision are matched by a mutual sense of spiritual depth and the overwhelming perceptive response that emerges from it. While Shapenoise’s interest in the dynamic possibilities of hard-hitting club music often plunges him into a netherworld of cinematic abstractions, sYn’s hallucinative engineering unveils a set of new routes for this “Metaphysical” quest.

They day before the showcase, 9 June, sees the release of Jesse Osborne-Lanthier and Grischa Lichtenberger’s new record, which includes remixes from Rabit, Gabor Lazar and Low Jack. Titled Conversation Sur Lettres Mortes, the release is an excavation of the hidden possibilities of any given object through childlike play and holistic deconstruction. Both Lichtenberger and Lanthier are known for their work with raster-noton as well as a variety of solo and collaborative AV projects.

LP is truly an insane try by Ren Schofield. These eight neutron bombs of avant-garde to the bone and strangely hypnotic material are spat out of the speakers to trepan your skull.” Secret Thirteen aptly describe the ferocity of music producer Container, whose debut LP album came out on Editions Mego sublabel Spectrum Spools in 2012. Container’s combination of composition and sculptural perspectives have entered his subsequent two albums, again titled LP, each one pushing his signature volatility one step further. With abrasive and unpredictable sets, seeing him live is an integral part of the Container experience.

Since Xosar debuted in 2012 with records on Rush Hour and L.I.E.S. she’s appeared on labels including Creme and Black Opal. Xosar capped off a busy 2015 with a self-released Holographic Matrix album, filled with some of the murkiest and most sinister tracks of her career to date. The release was her second album of the year and also follows the launch of her Gyrocore label with her Show Yourself EP.

Golden Puddle’s Nina has been hosting a series of “Nina trifft …” nights inviting outstanding guests, and where here DJ style has been refined into an eerie drone and noise sculpture that is hard to compare. After a short interlude in Berlin and a tape on London’s Blackest Ever Black label, she has returned to Hamburg to continue her Golden Pudel journey.
