KNM are known for presenting compositions, installations, and concert projects created in close collaboration with various composers, authors, conductors, artists, and stage directors from around the world. These programmes reflect a curiosity to explore the unknown and a willingness to confront the most pressing themes of our time.

Since its founding, the ensemble has performed in more than a thousand concerts, earning themselves an international reputation. KNM have contributed to music festivals such as the Donaueschingen Festival, MaerzMusik in Berlin, ars musica in Brussels, Festival d’Automne in Paris, and Wien Modern in Vienna. The ensemble have developed their own productions, such as HouseMusik and space+place, and have toured extensively, appearing at venues including Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Carnegie Hall in New York, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, and the National Concert Hall in Taipei.

Ensemble KNM’s discography comprises 15 CDs to date, and they were awarded the “German Record Critics’ Award” in 2009 and 2010 for their collaboration with the composer Beat Furrer. For CTM 2020, Ensemble KNM will contribute to “Drops and Seeds,” a collaboration undertaken with Prumsodun Ok & NATYARASA, Ana Maria Rodriguez, and Fred Pommerehn.
