ThuCTM is proud to present a Berlin Current showcase within the Norbergfestival featuring four artists from the initiative's ever-growing roster. The New Sound of the City - Berlin Current presents young, unconventional, and experimental pop music from Berlin.
Supported artists Kathy Alberici and Lief Hall will perform together on one stage. Kathy Alberici (Small but Hard, Drum Eyes) inhabits a tingling space between noise, soundscapes, and drone. Alberici is notably part of the SHAPE - Sound, heterogeneous art and performance in Europe - platform, representing the initiative's launch year. Lief Hall is a multi-media artist and musician that has toured with Grimes in 2012 as one half of pop-noir duo MYTHS. The artist’s solo music has developed out of a practice in audio- visual performance art and experimental vocal composition.
On another stage, Moon Wheel aka Olle Holmberg performs his cerebral, shape-shifting compositions inspired by “nature, history, and wandering”, synthesizing electronic and organic sounds through dubby groove deconstructions, uncanny ghost-in-the-machine moods, and grey psychedelic hazes. KABLAM is the moniker of Berlin-based Kajsa Blom, who produces mixtapes, edits, and remixes inspired by strong emotions and dynamic beats, which she publishes prolifically on soundcloud. Glossy melodies, hyperactive hi-hats, and bold rhythms whip any party into a full frenzy.
The Norbergfestival Association is a non-political, non-profit organisation, whose main task is to produce Norbergfestival and other related musical events. Norbergfestival has taken place yearly since 1999 in Norberg, Sweden.
