A new commissioned work by Maria Thereza Alves and Lucrecia Dalt will be presented at the Botanic Garden Berlin. The spatial sound installation “You Will Go Away One Day But I Will Not” considers the Western practice of using Western scientific nomenclature to name plants worldwide.

Does emptiness have a voice? In sergey kasich’s expansive installation, Hollow Howl, a variety of objects distributed throughout the exhibition space serve as passively resonating, reflecting, and absorbing surfaces. The installation is on-show during CTM 2020 at daadgalerie, free of charge.

CTM 2020's programme fills out with new additions. Mysterious duo Mohammad, shaabi adventurer 3Phaz, Enchufada affiliates Branko b2b PEDRO, Cashmere Radio resident Gigsta, Amplify alum Daniela Huerta, modular synth wiz Afrorack, Polish noise guerrillas BNNT, and Morphine Records boss Rabih Beaini round out the music programme.

With “Bergama Stereo,” Istanbul-based artist and musician Cevdet Erek uses the sonic to explore the lasting architectural legacy of the Pergamon Altar. A special CTM 2020 collaboration takes place at Hamburger Bahnhof to highlight the ongoing installation. On January 27th, the piece will be accompanied by a performance by the trio Contagious (Andrea Neumann, Sabine Ercklentz, and Mieko Suzuki) who have been invited to explore the themes and structural aspects of the installation.

With modules titled "Liminoid Technology and Aesthetics," "The Liminality of Transcendence, Altered States, and Ecstatic Community," "Becoming & Transgression," "Sounds of Change, Resilience & Resistance," and "Rethinking Music Ecosystems," the CTM 2020 Discourse programme is now announced! From lectures and panels to performances and a sound bath, this year's edition of Transfer covers a wide range of formats and topics. New highlights include Matt Colquhoun, Juliana Huxtable, Lucy, Josh Kun, Laura Diaz, Marija Bozinovska Jones, and more.

The annual CTM x transmediale preview opens tonight at ACUD Macht Neu! From 18:00 on, Vorspiel kicks off with live performances, screenings, DJ sets, and many more artistic interventions. The city-wide project unites over 55 Berlin-based initiatives and venues in a wide-ranging programme, which continues daily until February 2nd. The kick-off features contributions from the likes of Liebig12, Tehran Contemporary Sounds, Vilém Flusser Archive, and many more.

CTM, Goethe-Institut, and Musicboard Berlin team up to award one Berlin-based musician the a residency abroad in Southeast Asia as part of the multi-year Nusasonic project. In collaboration with Playfreely/BlackKaji, Yes No Klub, and WSK Festival for the Recently Possible, the residency takes place this year in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Musicians active between experimental pop, club music, sound art, noise, improvisation, and multimedia performance are encouraged to apply, and the residency takes place for six weeks around October 2020. Deadline for applications is March 1, 2020.
CTM, Nyege Nyege, and Musicboard Berlin award a Berlin-based pop musician with a residency abroad in Kampala, Uganda. Pop musicians of all genres are encouraged to apply, though the residency is best suited for musicians working in electronic, club, and experimental styles. The winning artist will be awarded a two month residency between July and September 2020. This follows DJ Scotch Egg's 2019 residency, which fostered an exciting collaboration between him, MC Yallah and Khanja. The deadline for applying is March 1, 2020.
