We’re still soaring from a tremendous 21st edition! A big THANK YOU to the artists, contributors, and collaborators from all corners of the world for your trust in CTM and for the moments of joy, inspiration and the food for thought you brought to the festival. Despite being nervous about following up after our 20th edition, we feel that the festival has managed to grow yet again. To see so many powerful performances by artists from so many different backgrounds and places in the world, was truly amazing and uplifting. Thanks to everyone behind the scenes, and to the huge team of volunteers, who contributed to providing the resources and spaces needed for such a madcap operation. And a huge THANK YOU to all of you who visited, and thus contributed through feedback, energy, criticism, dancing, hugs, cheers, amplification, joyful, and critical exchanges. We hope that you will join us again in 2021!

CTM, Goethe-Institut, and Musicboard Berlin team up to award one Berlin-based musician the a residency abroad in Southeast Asia as part of the multi-year Nusasonic project. In collaboration with Playfreely/BlackKaji, Yes No Klub, and WSK Festival for the Recently Possible, the residency takes place this year in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Musicians active between experimental pop, club music, sound art, noise, improvisation, and multimedia performance are encouraged to apply, and the residency takes place for six weeks around October 2020. Deadline for applications is March 1, 2020.
CTM, Nyege Nyege, and Musicboard Berlin will award a Berlin-based musician with a residency abroad in Kampala, Uganda. Musicians of all genres are encouraged to apply, though the residency is best suited for musicians working in electronic, club, and experimental styles. The winning artist will be awarded a two month residency between July and September 2020. This follows DJ Scotch Egg's 2019 residency, which fostered an exciting collaboration between him, MC Yallah and Khanja. The deadline for applying is March 1, 2020.

Running free of charge until mid-March, the CTM 2020 Exhibition, Interstitial Spaces, takes the questions of the festival's Liminal theme beyond the margins of music. The proposed artistic perspectives in this exhibition open up interpretations of in-betweens and thus, at the same time, question their opposite: the places that are supposedly concrete. The collection of works point to how unambiguity is arbitrarily produced through coexistence—in politics, culture, and society— arising from the power of consensus, from an agreement of many. Yet at the same time, it always produces its counterpart: the grey areas of the in-between.

Like the rest of the world, CTM & DISK are currently embroiled in efforts to keep our audience, artists, and team safe and healthy. Our upcoming events have been cancelled, and our staff are now working from home. We wanted to take a moment to express our care for and solidarity with all those affected, and our support for physical distancing measures.
