SunCTM joins forces with Red Bull Music Academy to close its 18th edition on sonically divergent notes. For a third year in a row, the two partners have collaboratively assembled two back-to-back events. Following a thunderous performance by The Bug vs Dylan Carlson of Earth at Heimathafen Neukölln, a spirited afterparty at the multi-room club and community center SchwuZ, which since its establishment in 1977 has been an indispensable resource in Berlin’s gay and queer scenes, will spotlight a range of voices to celebrate the diversity and unity that has shaped the very foundations of club culture.
The second floor at SchwuZ features 2016 RBMA Montreal participant Marie Davidson, who will present the heavy-lidded coldwave, synthpop and EBM that have made her one of the year’s buzzed-about emerging talents.
Skilfully toying with the codes of current bass music and layering sonic emotion with ultra-percussive breaks, Berlin-based Jackie will present her unique vision with a genre-defying DJ set of twisted HD groove.
DJ, producer, and Peaches collaborator Ziúr combines challenging sonic textures and brainy beats for a foggy, noisy, entrancing do-si-do.
Kicking off the night, RBMA alumnus Alis mixes the abstract, noisey end of contemporary club with new dancefloor mutations.
Presented with Red Bull Music Academy.
Ziúr is a Berlin-based DJ and producer dedicated to building functional dancefloor frameworks out of disparate sonic textures and brainy beats. Her music is meant for loud soundsystems (and preferably accompanied by a fog machine) but is free of strict loyalties toward a certain BPM or subgenre.
Since emerging as a solo artist at the tail end of the 2000s, Sabina Plamenova has released a wealth of material under two separate aliases: Subeena and Alis. The Berlin-based producer runs her own imprints but has also published output on Planet Mu, Don’t Be Afraid, Plus100 and Astro:Dynamics, among others.
Berlin-based newcomer Jackie skillfully toys with the codes of current bass music, layering sonic emotion with ultra-percussive breaks. Originally from Zurich, Jackie's unique vision plays out in her productions and genre-defying DJ sets of twisted HD groove.
Cool and with a touch of classic French chanson, Marie Davidson's heavy-lidded coldwave, synthpop and EBM has made her one of the year’s most talked-about emerging talents. Trained in classical violin, the French-Canadian artist fell hard for analogue electronic music in high school, dropping out to become a fixture on Montreal's thriving underground music scene.
