SunPractices developed at the Polish Radio Experimental Studio reveal the development of experimental approaches to sound in the wake of Stalinism. Enthusiasm towards the emancipatory qualities of sonic research is evident in sound experiments, graphic scores, spatial practices, and design originating from this facility.
The talk will focus on audiovisual pieces that saw technology as a liberating force for a new society, a force driven by electroacoustic music in both the theory and practice. A survey of works from Poland, Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, and Hungary will reveal common points of origin.
