Sebastian Klotz

Dr. Sebastian Klotz is professor of Transcultural Musicology and Historical Anthropology of Music at Humboldt University Berlin. He was researcher at the Istituto Storico Germanico in Rome, Bosch Fellow at the University of Chicago and held the chair of Systematic Musicology at Leipzig University. 

Dr. Klotz is a member of the expert panel on musicology of the European Science Foundation (ESF). His research interests span from Quattrocento dance to theories of musical action and musical knowledge cultures. His cross-disciplinary project “Berlin, Chicago, Kolkata – music as medium of urban transformations” (2008 to 2012) was supported by the Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung. Dr. Klotz contributed to The Cambridge History of World Music, ed. Philip Bohlman. He is currently planning to set up a Brain Computer Interface Lab for Audio Evidence at Humboldt University.
