Malek Andary

Malek Andary is a Lebanese choreographer and dancer specializing in dabke, an Arabic folk dance also practiced in Syria, Palestine, Jordan, and Iraq.

Born in 1976, Andary has taught dance in Lebanon since 1996 and earned his BA in Archaeology from the Lebanese University in 2001. In 2013, he co-founded Marhabtain, an organization dedicated to the preservation and sharing of Lebanese culture and folk traditions. In addition to performing on stages in Lebanon and in Europe, he has also choreographed works for theater and television. In 2015, he created Woman Below the Line with Ziad Ahmadieh and Aida Sa, a theatre piece exploring tradition and women's rights and social issues through comedy, dance, and music.
