Stefan Weinzierl

Stefan Weinzierl, born 1967 in Bamberg, received degrees in Physics and Sound Engineering at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, the Berlin University of the Arts and the University of Technology in Berlin (TU Berlin). His PhD in Musicology with Helga de la Motte-Haber was dedicated to the dependence on spatial acoustics by and practices of musical performance for classical viennese symphonies.

Weinzierl worked as a producer and sound engineer for multiple broadcasting stations and music labels. Since 2004 he leads the department for audio communication and the Master "Audio Communication and Technology" at TU Berlin. His main research is in the field of musical acoustics, psycho acoustics, space acoustics, virtual acoustics, and the theory of music reproduction. 

Weinzierl is also the Spokesman of the DFG research group dedicated to the simulation of acoustic environments, and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at Technische Universität Berlin.
