In the field of public art, Fox has created a seven-metre tall interactive musical sculpture (the "Giant Theremin") in Melbourne, and fire-powered kinetic musical sculptures for his hybrid sound/dance piece "A Small Prometheus"; with Stephanie Lake. A new work for microphones, speakers, and percussionists composed with Eugene Ughetti, "Transducer"; recently premiered at Totally Huge New Music Festival in Perth.

Numerous awards committees have recognized his work; in 2011, his "Interior Design: Music for the Bionic Ear" was shortlisted for a Future Everything award and selected by the Paris Rostrum of Composers the following year, and his interactive installation "CRT: Hommage to Leon Theremin" received an honourable mention in the National New Media Art Award 2012. He also received a Helpmann award and honourable mention at the illustrious Prix Ars Electronica 2009 for his groundbreaking work with Chunky Move Dance Company.

As a visual artist, Fox has exhibited at the RoslynOxley9 (Sydney), Centre for Contemporary Photography (Melbourne), Gallery of Modern Art (Brisbane), and Salamanca Arts Centre (Hobart), as well as galleries in Germany, Taipei, and New Zealand. He has collaborated with leading improvisers and directors such as Anthony Pateras, Jon Rose, Jerome Noetinger, Oren Ambarchi, and Antony Hamilton, and his sound works have been released on labels such as Room40 and Editions Mego. He holds a PhD in composition from Monash University and an MA in musicology.
