Olle Holmberg is a Swedish electronic musician and photographer residing in Berlin. Perhaps better known for his psychedelic experimental tones under the pseudonym of Moon Wheel, productions under his own name take a more beat-oriented direction, heading into raw analogue techno territory.
Holmberg grew up in a small village in Sweden and then went off to Melbourne to study photography, receiving a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts at RMIT. While exhibiting his photography and other conceptual art at numerous galleries in Australia, he also became involved in music and founded the group Pissypaw with partner David Mutch.
After eventually moving to Berlin, Holmberg began working under his Moon Wheel moniker, creating cerebral, shape-shifting compositions inspired by “nature, history, and wandering” that have garnered him praise as a producer with a “subtle knack for building a mood” (Resident Advisor). Boomkat described him as “at his best when dissolving the boundaries in weird dub scapes." Holmberg has consistently continued to expand his musical horizons and recently launched a new branch of his musical efforts under his own name. His latest track as Olle Holmberg, “NOOH – Stålglashus” was included on the compilation Merzbow - A Sonic Tribute From Berlin, dedicated to the noise musician Masami Akita and released by Urban Arts Berlin in 2013.
Olle Holmberg’s CTM 2015 performance marks the perfect occasion to glimpse the emerging producer’s latest experiments.
