Mariska de Groot makes and performs analogue light-to-sound instruments and installations that explore optical sound.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in graphic design from HAN University of Applied Sciences. In 2012 de Groot received her Master’s diploma from the ArtScience Interfaculty, an interdisciplinary programme founded by the late pioneering Dutch artist Dick Raaijmakers in order to fosters curiosity driven research as approach for the making of art. Mariska has been awarded a Startstipendium grant from Fonds BKVB and the 2012 BNG Workspace12 Projectprice. Her work has also been commissioned by the art/design/technology/music festival, Oddstream.
