Alexander Pehlemann was born in 1969 in the GDR. Following the end of the GDR he studied Art History in Greifswald and was active as a cultural networker.
Since 1993 he is editor and publisher of Zonic Magazine, an holds a special interest in Eastern European subcultures. He is the DJ-selector for Al-Haca Sound System, and writes for regional and national music magazines. He also produces the Zonic Radio Show. In 2006 he published a special edition of Zonic entitled Spannung.Leistung.Widerstand – Magnetbanduntergrund in der DDR 1979–1990 ( Tension.Power.Resistance – Magnetic Tape Underground in the GDR 1979–1990) and in 2009 he compiled a CD entitled Polska Rootz. Beats, Dubs, Mixes & Future Folk From Poland, featuring music from the Eastern Bloc. He lives in Leipzig since 2009.
