WedBerlin Current artist Moon Wheel plays a live set this Wednesday in a Berlin edition of Boiler Room, the underground dance music show broadcasting parties live to thousands of international viewers. CTM Festival’s Berlin Current initiative presents unconventional and experimental music from young Berlin-based artists, in a collaboration with Boiler Room Berlin, Berghain, De:Bug, and BLN.fm.
Moon Wheel is the independent project of Swedish artist and self-taught musician, Olle Holmberg. Following seven years in Melbourne as a member of experimental electronic group Pissypaw, Holmberg moved to Berlin, where his first production under the Moon Wheel moniker – a 13-minute drone work on a split cassette with post-punk outfit Ill Winds – was released on Noisekölln Tapes in 2012. Holmberg’s cerebral, shape-shifting compositions synthesize electronic and organic sounds. His self-titled solo album debuted on L.A. label Not Not Fun in March.
Holmberg performs alongside prolific Belgian producer Peter Van Hoesen, Berghain resident Marcel Fengler, and L.I.E.S. label artist, Florian Kupfer.
All Boiler Room events are invite-only, but listeners are invited to tune in for the live stream starting at 19h GMT. Individual sets will be available in the Boiler Room archive following the event.
Berlin Current is a collaborative initiative from CTM Festival, Berghain, Boiler Room Berlin, BLN.FM, De-Bug, and ICAS. Sponsored by the Musicboard Berlin.
