Lucrecia Dalt is a Colombian producer and pop surrealist who deals in restless, cerebral electronics. Trained as a civil engineer with a specialty in geotechnics, Dalt's productions chart the motion of geologic time in fits and bursts, lucidly rendering tensions and disturbance through a combination of acoustic and electronic sound, sampling, and traditional songwriting.
Over the past few years, from home-bases in Barcelona and Berlin, the Red Bull Music Academy alum has issued a steady stream of full-length releases. Her most recent album, How Can We Be Otherwise, arrived in the final months of 2014 via Nicolas Jaar's Other People imprint as the successor to Syzgny (released on LA-based imprint Human Ear the previous year), which pursued philosophical inquiry through improvisation, film sampling, and vocal manipulation.
While her work is often likened to that of artist and collaborator Julia Holter, she has also partnered with the Medellín's Series Media Collective and fellow Berlin-based artists F.S. Blumm and Gudrun Gut.
