Leading straight into CTM and transmediale festivals, Vorspiel takes place as a city-wide programme where a variety Berlin-based initiatives and venues invite the public to a series of exhibition openings, performances, interventions, artist talks, and special events all over the city. Vorspiel begins Wednesday, 22 January.

Three workshops, open to the general public, will take place during CTM 2014: ReNoise, exploring the unique noise music culture that thrived in post-revolution Russia, a workshop with master synthesizer improviser Charles Cohen, and a workshop on PAN collaborator Mat Dryhurt's Anonymonths experimental publishing concept. Registration on a first-come, first-served basis.

CTM 2014 - Dis Continuity - offers a number of events and exhibitions that are free and open to the public.
We regretfully inform you that, due to illness, Mika Vainio is unable to participate in the CTM 2014 Opening Concert. Rhys Chatham, a contemporary of Palestine’s who first became widely known as one of the key figures of New York's No Wave scene in the late 1970s, will join Palestine in duo, adding glistening layers of trumpet, flute, and electric guitar to the latter's rumbling piano and electric organ drones.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the installation Ideofoon III by DickRaaijmakers is unable to leave the Netherlands and regretfully cannot be presented at CTM 2014.

Sound Exchange projects pay homage to Eastern European pioneers via performances by younger generation artists. Sound Exchange II on 26.1. opens with Ensemble Mi-65, and also features Hungarian Pal Tóth, appearing under his én moniker in an homage to Ernö Király, a sound diffusion of “Synthistory” (1973) by Bogusław Schaeffer, and uncompromising Polish experimenter Łukasz Szałankiewicz.
