Radio Lab Call for Works Now Open

Since 2014, the CTM Radio Lab has been commissioning new works that explore the intersection of radio with live performance or installation within the context of the festival’s yearly theme. This year's open call is supplemented by an additional call for works, titled Kontinuum. Submissions are welcome until 28 August 2019.

Gabber Modus Operandi, Angel-Ho and more for a CTM 2020 Future Prelude

Ahead of CTM 2020, an all-star lineup arrives at Trauma Bar und Kino for Sub Liminal: A CTM 2020 Future Prelude. Born in Flamez subverts gender and genre with a DJ set that draws on a panoply of influences; Baltimore legend Abdu Ali's live set offers an idiosyncratic blend of punk, jazz, Baltimore club music, and rap; polyglot performer, vocalist, DJ, rapper, and producer Angel-Ho performs live following the release of her debut proper Death Becomes Her via Hyperdub; Gabber Modus Operandi descend upon Berlin again following a standout performance at CTM 2019; AYA and xin close out the evening with a raucous b2b, journeying through bass, breaks, and bootlegs.

Reminder: One Week Left for Research Networking Day Papers

There is one week left to respond to the RND 2020 open call, which seeks innovative and critical submissions from all areas of study addressing the scope of CTM 2020’s Liminal theme. We invite students and junior scholars to present their research at an international platform that provides a good opportunity to meet various colleagues and researchers working on related ideas. Application deadline: 30 September 2019.

SHAPESHIFTERS: CTM 2020 Hacklab Call Announced

Liminality is the possibility of transformation, ritual unbecoming. This year’s hacklab focuses on how performance practice and invention can change the performer—making them someone or something else, making them newly visible, or making them entirely invisible. We challenge our participants to engage in collaborations that remake one another’s onstage roles. Apply by 31 October.

Dani Gal and Ghazi Barakat, and the duo NUM are the Winners of the CTM 2020 Radio Lab Call for Works

Two winning projects have been selected from an open call for the CTM 2020 Radio Lab. The organizers would like to thank everyone who took the time to submit their proposals, which totalled 135 entries from 38 countries, and collectively addressed the call’s themes and challenges from a wide and interesting array of perspectives.

Vorspiel 2020 Open Call Announced

For the upcoming Vorspiel 2020 edition, transmediale and CTM Festival will again collaborate with Berlin's network of project spaces, galleries, independent cultural actors, and cultural institutions in order to commonly create and present a distributed program of events created by the various initiatives, which are working in the field of digital art and culture as well as experimental sound and music. We are pleased to invite you to apply to take part in Vorspiel 2020. The call is open until November 4 2019.

Sub Liminal 2 – Second CTM 2020 Preview Event Announced

A slew of boundary-defying artists arrive at Trauma Bar und Kino on 7 November 2019 for a night of uncompromising, outrageous sounds. Live sets by FAKA and KABLAM, and electric DJing by DJ Haram and Pininga give a peak into what lies ahead at Sub Liminal #2: a CTM 2020 Future Prequel.
