An installation at the interface of art and science, Force Field uses sonolevitation to acoustically levitate a water droplet that resonates and transforms from a spheroid into different oscillating shapes as the sonic pressure increases. Capturing the 3- dimensionality of sound and the elusive physicality of water, the droplet’s vibrations are rendered into sound and computational images that are presented as a live hemispherical projection and multi-channel sound environment. A first installation version of the work-in-progress is on display from 30 January - 7 February, daily at ACUD Macht Neu.

Commissioned by CTM, Vincent Moon's multi-screen film installation "Rituals" enlaces themes of timeworn trance rituals and the sacred in modern life into a synthesis of new findings. The installation opens tonight at 18H and is open to the public. The artist will present more of his work as part of the CTM 2016 Opening Concert which follows one hour later at the nearby HAU1 venue.

We cordially invite one and all to join us on Friday 29.1. at 19h at the Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien for the opening of the CTM 2016 Exhibition "Seismographic Sounds. Visions of a New World", curated by Norient with contributions from CTM. The evening includes performances by Ewa Justka, OMMA and Peter Kirn, who inaugurate this year's MusicMakers Hacklab. Entrance is free.
Electro-shaabi analogue wizard Maurice Louca, Praed - who create tension through a blend of Arabic pop and trance musics, free jazz and electronics, extra-geographical explorers Sublime Frequencies, Beirut radio activist Ziad Nawfal, Pharoah Chromium, Renaissance Man and Dis Fig join the kaleidoscopic lineup.
On Monday 1 February CTM presents a unique evening with Abdel Karim Shaar. Like the masterful Umm Kulthum, a legendary Egyptian songwriter, singer, and actress, Shaar is closely linked to the traditional concept of tarab, which describes music’s evocation of emotional catharsis. Visitors can choose from regular seats, or special seats around a table, which include authentic Lebanese finger food and wine for a full evening experience. A highly-recommended event!

Directly following the CTM 2016 Exhibition Opening, Panorama Bar will be filled with the lush house sounds of Andre Bratten and SHAPE platform supported artist Charlotte Bendiks, progressing slowly into techno territory via HMOT, Buttechno and Low 808, who represent some of Russia's active voices in electronic music, and ending with Berlin favourites Rodhad and Ateq.
