Live calligraffiti between Berlin – Marseille

The Digital Calligraffiti performance is a networked scenario between the CTM Festival/ transmediale in Berlin and the Chroniques Festival Marseille. Visitors are invited to create Digital Calligraffiti art works live, by using the interactive projection table, Infl3ctor, developed by the new media artist and engineer Michael Ang and the calligraffiti artist Hamza Abu Ayyash.

Digital Calligraffiti is a community project that encourages cultural exchange between traditional calligraphers, calligraffiti, new media artists and the representatives of the refugee cultures in Berlin. Under the guiding principle 'Urban Screens are our Canvas' Digital Calligraffiti aims to create meaningful messages. The calligraffiti artists reproducce the messages collected during the previous Digital Calligraffiti Camp at Collegium Hungaricum, in real time.

Festivalgoers and passersby are invited to participate by using the Infl3ctor table, and to share their messages between the two cities.

The digital calligraffiti artworks will also be animated for an urban media art campaign, hosted by WALL and screened at the subway station Berlin Friedrichstraße (U6) from January 27th until March 5th - every hour on 12 digital large projections, preceeded by an interactive performance staring the Infl3tor and Hamza Abu Ayyash on January 26th from 2pm-3pm.

Digital Calligraffiti is curated by Public Art Lab in cooperation with From Here To Fame Publishing and Seconde Nature, funded and produced within the framework of Future DiverCities and the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
