The CTM 2018 afterparty, co-hosted by Red Bull Music, celebrates the conclusion of ten non-stop turbulent festival days.

Curator and founder of the Burschenschaft Hysteria sorority, Marlene Engel aka Angel warms up the main floor ahead of post-digital art/feminist duo Klitclique, who will break open their vault of neo-electronic low-tech sounds and satirical word ammunition.

South African performance art duo and NON Worldwide affiliates FAKA, i.e. Fela Gucci and Desire Marea, explore “the intricacies of love and romance within the black queer experience” via “ancestral gqom-gospel” sonics, video, literature, and photography.

Multifaceted producer and vocalist Born In Flamez, a co-curator of this year’s club programme, will grace us with an eclectic DJ set drawing inspiration from the fringes of club music. In the process of traversing the nether-regions of grime, industrial pop, and future electronics, s/he subverts both genre and gender.

A core member of London’s Butterz record label, Flava D creates energetic club sets at the confluence of house, UK garage, and grime. The prolific producer has remixed the likes of Craig David and Diplo, while receiving airtime support from veterans like DJ EZ and frequent collaborator Wiley.

Longtime CTM collaborator Opium Hum rounds out the night.

ARTISTS

FAKA[ZA]

The Johannesburg collective FAKA was established by Fela Gucci and Desire Marea. It has come to represent more than the “performance art duo” descriptor that has defined it since its inception in 2015 – at this point, it embodies an outright cultural movement.

Opium Hum[DE]

Opium Hum, aka Michail Stangl, builds his DJ sets using sombre, hazy drones and fantastical soundscapes permeated by deep and shifting rhythms, creating what can only be called a waking dream.

Born in Flamez[INT]

Shirking notions of identity, Born in Flamez subverts gender and genre with a panoply of influences somewhere in the nether regions between deconstructed pop, lofi, grime, and classical music.

Angel[AT]

DJ Angel, or Marlene Engel, lives and works in Vienna, where she has been performing since 2008.

Klitclique[AT]

Klitclique is Vienna's answer to sad boys. Nobody has recorded them because they never wanted to be recorded – instead, they have live-disrupted the art world, graffiti culture, and various freestyle battles.

Flava D[UK]

Flava D is the alias of Danielle Gooding, a producer and DJ known for her work in U.K. bass sounds from garage to grime.
