SatIn the first of four RBMA lectures at CTM 2018 taking place at Red Bull Studios Berlin, the avant-dancehall collective Equiknoxx will speak about their unique approach to music production.
Kingston, Jamaica's Equiknoxx have made big waves with their prismatic, forward-thinking, shimmy-mandating latest releases, Bird Sound Power and Colón Man (both on DDS). Boomkat called the latter a "hugely inventive, compelling album for the ages, a remarkable iteration of Black Secret Technology for 2017 and far beyond." Their lecture will be followed on this same evening by a performance at YAAM featuring three of the collective's core members: riddim producers Gavsborg & Time Cow and vocalist Shanique Marie.
Christine has worked in music her entire adult life, and it's taken her from Creative Vibes in Sydney, to BM Soho and Juno Download in London, to Beatport and zero" in Berlin. She began writing for Australian street press magazines in the early 2000s, and currently works full-time as a freelance music journalist and content/curation specialist.
Equiknoxx is a forward-thinking production outfit from Jamaica known for its distinctive take on dancehall. The crew has released on Demdike Stare’s label, DDS, and Swing Ting.
