Set Mosaic is a new project by Italian installation artist Francesco Cavaliere, and Berlin-based, US artist/avant noise instrumentalist Christopher Kline. Interweaving visual art and sound, Cavaliere and Kline’s performance takes place within an environment of objects. Kline’s rituals, focusing on disorientation, complement the work of Cavaliere who’s installations and performances are based on found musical devices.
Francesco Cavaliere’s (1980, Italy) work is centred on the conception and creation of musical devices, actions related to lands and fields, visions, and language. His installations are based on observations and reactions to acoustic phenomena of different found materials. He has been involved in various groups and activities including Mirror Trance, Mollusca, Doro Bengala, Alberorovesciato, ✧Sea Urchin✧ and Jooklo Plutonya. He curated a series of exhibitions with Marcel Türkowsky at the Grimmuseum, called Whilstle, Minotaure! featuring Sam Ashley, C.C. Hennix, and Henry Flynt.
Christopher Kline (1982, US), has been based in Berlin since 2003. He has worked under various monikers including Snakebraid, Night Music, Hush Hush, and in the groups Gemeine Gesteine and Wooden Veil among others. His actions and installations focus on disorientation and ritual, often using bells and the singing saw as his only sources of sound.
