The Milan-based Off-White fashion label founder hits the decks. Virgil Abloh is an American fashion designer and long-time creative consultant to Kanye West. The Chicago resident has worked with Kanye to develop tour merchandise, album covers and set designs, and has undoubtedly helped to catapult his name into the global consciousness.
His world-renowned fashion label fuses streetwear with haute couture. Off-White has retail stores in Hong Kong and Tokyo and will open outlets in New York, Singapore and Toronto.
Abloh grew up in middle-class Rockford, Illinois, where he used to DJ on the weekends. He’s returning to that pastime under the moniker Flat White and releases on Bromance Records. He’s already showcased his mashup of four-to-the-floor house, Atlanta hip hop and techno at a Boiler Room set in London and in a BBC Radio 1Xtra mix. Abloh is also involved in a joint project with Parisian DJ Guillaume Berg dubbed Paris, IL—a project born as a reaction to the lack of good music they’d heard during Fashion Weeks. The multitalented creative is sure to get the club bumpin’.
