A Brazilian performance artist currently based in Berlin, Negroma creates hybridized dance and experimental music works for both stage and club environments. Their performances bring many forms of media into dialogue, expressing the personal while opening new perspectives in and around contemporary art more broadly.

At 17, Negroma enrolled in the performing arts school Artes Cênicas na Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, where (as they told the BBC) they began to explore questions of sexuality and their own gender identity through theater and performance. In 2014, they were awarded a prize from the Ministry of Culture, which financed the realisation of an artistic project in Berlin. Since relocating to the German capital in 2015, the choreographer and budding composer's work has focused on exploring music—and the performative act itself—as an extension of their own body and needs. They have also been vocal about the need for legal protection of trans individuals in Brazil, describing Berlin as a kind of refuge.

In late 2016, Negroma partnered with fellow Berlin-based producer Soda Plains for a performance at Creamcake's 3hd festival, whose multidisciplinary program aimed to discover creative ways of confronting today's increasingly complex and oppressive sociopolitical climate.
