Sherwood & Pinch[UK]

Legendary dub producer and On-U Sound founder Adrian Sherwood joins forces with Bristol dubstep ringleader and Tectonic Recordings boss Pinc,; fusing two generations of heavy-hitters in the UK dub continuum. The duo’s first collaborative album, Late Night Endless, echoes with samples from Sherwood’s historical sound bank, and seamlessly braids melody into their distinguished percussive wobble.

Adrian Sherwood’s career spans over 30 years – including the inception of dub’s most recognizable labels, On-U Sound, which he founded in 1979. The label has been home to acts such as Tackhead, Dub Syndicate, African Head Charge, Little Annie, Asian Dub Foundation, and more.

During the 1980s, Sherwood brought together Jamaican acts Prince Far I, Mikey Dread, and Bim Sherman under the collective name of Singer and Players, helping to promote their individual identities while reinforcing On-U Sound. In 1986, with Jamaican dub star/singer Lee Perry, they produced Time Boom X De Devil Dead. Sherwood has released two solo albums, meanwhile remixing Einstürzende Neubauten, Depeche Mode, Skinny Puppy, and doing production work with Ministry, Cabaret Voltaire, KMFDM, and more.

Staying true to the original essence of dubstep, Rob Ellis aka Pinch founded one of the genre’s first labels, Tectonic, with releases by artists like 2562, Flying Lotus, Skream, Peverelist, Distance, Shed, Benga, and more. Inspired by the slipping landscape of the scene he came to discover in the early 2000s of Bristol, Ellis helped redefine his musical surroundings by hosting Subloaded parties, and debuting his own LP, Underwater Dancehall, in 2007; a follow-up to his first LP, WarDub, leaked through Tectonic back in 2005. Ellis’ beautifully syncopated 2006 Planet Mu single “Qawwali,” paved the way for a sophistication within the genre, that hasn't left his ideals since. He continues to collaborate and produce, most recently pulling in Mumdance for their collaborative “Turbo Mitzi” release.
