Roosevelt[DE]

Roosevelt is Germany’s answer to the sentimental haze born of the broken heart of disco. Greco-Roman and Future Classic have already picked up the young producer Marius Lauber, who the Guardian sums up as “New Order in Ibiza.” Lauber regularly DJs and recently toured with Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs.

Growing up in a small Cologne suburb in the West of Germany, Lauber’s youth was fueled by piano lessons. During his teens he dove into the guitar and drums, eventually playing in several bands.

Moving to Cologne at age 18, he was finally thrust into the possibilities of the dance scene during a studio share with Kompakt-signed duo Coma. In the summer of 2011, Lauber’s first single “Sea” was noticed on a blog by the Greco Roman crew. One chat late, the single was being released on the pop-heavy dance label, which has a reputation for amassing the freshest talent in the genre.

Lauber’s debut 4 track EP, Elliot, followed on Greco Roman and Future Classic in 2013. The introspective yet accessible album is a blissfully sad offering, melodic and vocal. Reminiscent of the power of Caribou, it is defined by its own experience, and a lot of italo-disco.
