Ricardo Saavedra is an interface designer and HCI researcher based in Berlin. His design research explores new visualisation methods for machine learning interpretability (XAI), alternative approaches to urban sensing, and portable tools for the governance of virtual worlds (Metagov).

Saavedra earned his Master’s Degree in Interaction Design from PUC (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), followed by an MFA in computer music from Mills College (Oakland, CA), where he designed and built various interactive human-machine systems for artistic expression. He often gives workshops and lectures about designing with AI, critical software, and design theory.
