HMOT[RU]

HMOT is the stage name of Stanislav Sharifullin, a composer and sound artist based in Krasnoyarsk, Russia. He runs the tape label Klammklang and works as a curator for music, art, and science events between Siberia’s major cities.

Born in Lesosibirsk (which literally translates to «forest + Siberia»), Stanislav used to run Gimme5, a Siberian blog, label and community long responsible for shaping the local underground music scene. His debut record Lost In Taiga, a split album with St.Petersburg-based musician Nocow, was released by Origami Sound, a netlabel from Romania. His follow-up Oneirology EP came out on the Russian imprint Fuselab. His latest Barricades EP, released by the Karelian label Full Of Nothing, is a meticulously crafted contribution to the minimal dancefloor canon: the hums and buzzes of modular synths meet piano and string samples, and field recordings are layered over hard-panned, clickety-clack techno and house templates.

Stanislav holds a Candidate of Sciences degree (a Russian equivalent to the Ph.D.) in linguistics and treats music and language in the same way. This parallel acts as a guiding principle for his creative works. HMOT's music is highly detailed and full of references, strictly structured yet with a completely organic feel.
