Croatian Amor[DK]

Croatian Amor is the solo project of Copenhagen-based Loke Rahbek, best known for his involvement in running renowned Danish label Posh Isolation. He’s responsible for a plethora of other projects, including Damien Dubrovnik, Lust for Youth, Vår, and Body Sculptures.

The Croatian Amor project blends post-industrial textures with an acute pop sensibility. Leaning on a strong sense of narrative, as well as cinematic uses of synth-driven music, Croatian Amor deals with intimacy, communication, and relationships. In his work, there is an element of fantasy, or maybe even science fiction, though ultimately, Croatian Amor explores very real subject matter.

With the Croatian Amor project, Rahbek is known for a thoughtful, considered approach to sharing music. 2014’s The Wild Palms was only available via cassette and in exchange for nude self-portraits; and 2016’s Love Means Taking Action was accompanied by its stems, made available as public commons.

For CTM 2019, Croatian Amor will be performing on the release date of Isa. The record promises contributions from Puce Mary, Soho Rezanejad, Alto Aria, and Yves Tumor. Alluding to a messianic entity, the album circles themes of tragedy and comfort to animate a sense of hope.
