FriThe takeover of Panorama Bar by London's Greco-Roman Soundsystem will comprise a bouncy, colourful answer to the heavy-handed audacity downstairs on the same night.
Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs is an electro-house project created by British classically-trained pop producer Orlando Higginbottom. He is known for his vibrant, ornate stage getup, which in conjunction with his extravagant artist’s name provides a commentary on the pretentiousness and exclusivist “coolness” of the club and pop music scene. Higginbottom will appear as a DJ along with Hot Chip member Joe Goddard (also DJing), rainbow groover Lxury, German disco softy Roosevelt, and Berlin Boiler Room organizer Full Nelson.
Breaking out in early 2013, South London’s Andy Smith, better know as Lxury got his big break when his colourful pop-accented house track, “J.A.W.S.,” debuted on Disclosure’s BBC Radio Essential 1 mix. Co-producing the release with Smith, Disclosure went on to release it as an EP on their Method label, after which it quickly hit the radio waves.
Electro-active poptronica producer and singer Orlando Tobias Edward Higginbottom is not royalty, but his royal sound has been lighting up festivals with bright evocative indie pop ever since his 2012 debut album, Trouble, dropped on Polydor. The record was rated as one of the UK’s top 5 albums in the BBC's end of 2012 music poll.
London producer Joe Goddard may be best known as the percussionist, occasional vocalist, and synth player in Britain's premiere electronic pop act Hot Chip, but he's mapped new trajectories as a solo artist, respected producer, and the driving force behind idiosyncratic dance music outpost Greco-Roman.
Alex “Full Nelson” Waldron is a man about the scene, pulling creative strings from his numerous angles as A&R, Label Manager, DJ/founder of the Greco-Roman collective, music consultant for XL Recordings, and co-organizer of the Berlin Boiler Room series.
Roosevelt is Germany’s answer to the sentimental haze born of the broken heart of disco. Greco-Roman and Future Classic have already picked up the young producer Marius Lauber, who the Guardian sums up as “New Order in Ibiza.” Lauber regularly DJs and recently toured with Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs.
Greco-Roman is a collective of musicians, DJs, and artists on the Berlin-London axis who throw speakeasy parties, run an eclectic record label, and DJ together as a Soundsystem, making colourful music, because they dance in the dark.
