Through their Herkules von Lubumbashi project, artists Elia Rediger and Dorine Mokha counter the current dystopian climate with the artistic necessity of creating new futuristic imagery. Their contemporary documentary and speculative postcolonial music theatre focuses on the conflicts around mineral resources and the situation of miners in the Democratic Republic of Congo, relying on art's ability not only to formulate a critique, but to envision concrete solutions or alternatives to current conflict situations. Is it not still the case that to strengthe utopian thinking, we require strong works of art that formulate humanistic values in a comprehensible, and emotionally effective way?

A specially-prepared video discussion with artists and project protagonists Elia Rediger and Dorine Mokha will be shown in the presence of Eva-Maria Bertschy and Wolfgang Kaleck, who are both actively involved in various facets of the project.
