CTM 2016 Daytime Programme

Transfer takes shape as an interdisciplinary laboratory and meeting ground for professionals and members of the general public. With many events presented free of charge, the Transfer programme aims to intensify the exchanges between artists, musicians, cultural workers, music technology developers, researchers, students, and industry professionals.

Discourse series

The Discourse series of talks, lectures, panel discussions, and workshops aims to provide the foundation and context to the nightime acts showcased at the festival.

Exhibition

The CTM 2016 Exhibition: Seismographic Sounds. Visions of a New World opens Friday 29 January, and continues running after the festival, until 22 March.

Installations

Two commissioned installations will be on show during the festival, free of charge. Rituals by Vincent Moon is presented at HAU Hebbel am Ufer (HAU2), while Force Field by Evelina Domnitch and Dmitry Gelfand  finds its home at ACUD Macht Neu. Both open Saturday 30.1. and run daily until Sunday 7.2.

MusicMakers Hacklab

The MusicMakers Hacklab, a 6-day, open, collaborative environment in which participants learn about new technologies and get their hands on making their own musical inventions, will host several public lectures throughout the week with invited artists and thinkers. The Hacklab hosts opening performances on Friday 29 January and culminates in a Finale performance programme on Sunday 1 February.

Networking Activities

Several networking activities will again be presented at the festival this year, including the Research Networking Day that this year invites sound art students to present their approaches within the context of New Geographies; the Meet & Greet for Collaborative Networks that offers a chance for artists, curators and the public to meet with three networks sustaining emerging artists, audiovisual production, and sound art residencies; and a Network Speed-Dating session that gives a chance for one-on-one conversations with these networks and other parthers.
