From acerbic, punk sounds to impassioned doom poetry, tonight’s Berghain/Säule lineup has much to offer. Tim Tetzner presents I Just Can’t Avoid the Void in Void, Manila scene stalwarts Caliph8 & Nonplus play live, renowned experimental club project 700 Bliss, and punk band Cocaine Piss delivers an unstoppable show. Live performances will be followed by a number of adventurous DJ sets.

A number of artists from Southeast Asia feature in CTM 2019’s programme, thanks to the Nusasonic initiative. Cheryl Ong, Kok Siew-Wai, Pisitakun, Rully Shabara, Tengal, and Wok the Rock come together at Kunstquartier Bethanien Studio 1 to discuss the region’s aesthetics and scenes. What kinds of challenges do they face, and how do local cultures shape their sounds?

As in past years, CTM explores the noisier, harder, and more sinister sides of music. Austrian noise duo Schtum, Bristolian composer John Bence, Posh Isolation co-founder Croatian Amor, and Indonesian experimental rock band Zoo comprise tonight’s lineup.

Sound artist and researcher Pedro Oliveira opens this thread of our Discourse programme with “1.977 Ways to Say No.” In this talk, Oliveira will consider the deployment of sonic biometrics in Europe’s border and migration industries.

Forward-thinking experimentalists Thomas Ankersmit and Lucy Railton take to HAU2 for As If We Were Solitary Selves. Synthesist Ankersmit presents “Perceptual Geography,” a piece inspired by and dedicated to the legacy of Maryanne Amacher. Cellist Lucy Railton performs “Paradise 94,” her acclaimed debut album released via Modern Love.

For those who don’t need to recover from the weekend’s excitement, STATE studios presents two contributions from MusicMakers Hacklab participants. Olivia Jack will consider human-machine collaboration, while Lintang Radittya and Andreas Siagian will shed light on Indonesia’s hacker and DIY cultures.

If you missed last night’s sold out show, Brazilian MC Linn da Quebrada returns for a second headlining performance. Supporting is experimental queer saxophonist Bendik Giske, known for fusing freeform jazz and club music.
