Dis Locate at CTM 2014 collapses both time and place with a programme that presents archival musical material in the contemporary globalized club space.

Romania’s Rodion G.A. has, until recently, remained unknown to most of the world. Formed in 1975 during a period of cultural censorship and with limited access to production technologies, the group constructed a unique stylistic hybrid of electronic music, psychedelia, and progressive rock, very little of which ever saw release. Their performance at CTM 2014 marks their inaugural appearance outside the Iron Curtain, complimented by Romanian musician and DIY archivist Ion D, who helped resurface Rodion G.A. along with his Future Nuggets collective.

New-York based DJ Veronica Vasicka founded Minimal Wave as a platform for obscure 80s cold wave, post-punk, industrial, electro, and synth pop that saw only limited underground distribution at the time of its production. In that same decade, Italian DJ and producer Alexander Robotnick acquired cult status for his electro-disco anthems; today, he pulls from over three decades of experience in dance music – from collaborations with Kurdish, Indian, Cameroonian, and Algerian musicians to experiments with early analogue electronics.

Rounding out the programme is Fearplay aka Seda Niğbolu, a cultural journalist and DJ originally from Istanbul who excavates the tensions between abstract experimental music and dark pop phenomena and Turkish cultural life in Berlin.
