CTM Festival’s anniversary edition is completed with the addition of seasoned artists from across the musical spectrum.

Renowned DJ and outspoken feminist The Black Madonna is one of dance music’s most sought-after DJs, known as a sublime technician behind the decks who will spin anything from hip hop to house. Named Mixmag’s DJ of the year in 2016, she is known for her impassioned approach to dance music, hosting the inclusive We Still Believe party, and for producing euphoric house- and disco- tinged stompers. Joining The Black Madonna is DJ Rachael, a like-minded artist that has been active for over 20 years, she is celebrated as East Africa’s first female DJ, in addition to her role as a founder of the Femme Electronic collective, which works hard to empower women in her home scene. Her selections span dubstep, drum and bass, deep house, and more. Due to unforeseen circumstances, previously-announced artist Violet can no longer close the night. However, the formidable Saoirse will now complete the lineup. Known for genre-hopping acrobatics, she can be found regularly on Rinse FM. 

In his first CTM appearance since 2015’s CTM Siberia, Buttechno completes the lineup for the opening club night at Berghain, launched in conjunction with Tbilisi’s Bassiani. Crediting anything from Japanese noise to psychedelic rock as influences, the Russian techno stalwart is affiliated with innovative designer Gosha Rubchinskiy. Also playing during the opening club night, Tama Sumo is a mainstay and driving force for the German house and techno scene since the early 90s. The Panorama Bar regular and Ostgut Ton affiliate adroitly weaves together house, soul, techno, broken beat, and funk. Tama is joined by ://about blank regular Resom, who spins groovy techno, warm broken beats, and left-field house.

Liege-based four-piece Cocaine Piss are purveyors in urgent, nihilistic punk, melding together garage, a riot grrl! spirit, and experimental noise. Recently, they shared the music video for grungy, electrifying, hair-raising single “MY CAKE.” 

Hessle Audio’s Pangaea completes the lineup for the inaugural edition of LSDXOXO’s Floorgasm. Known for high-energy, driving club tracks, his output includes trippy stompers such as “You Know What’s Up” and the twisting, frenetic LP In Drum Play. 

Experimental club music producer, DJ, and visual artist Ani Klang crafts heavy, hard-hitting sounds, as heard on her debut EP Worst of All Time on Infinite Machine, and Rapacious on Knightwerk. With a love for anything fast-paced and kick-heavy, Klang plays relentless, spirited DJ sets guaranteed to make you sweat. Klang and 100% Halal, also known as design studio Sucuk und Bratwurst that are affiliated with Berlin’s hype label Live from Earth, join previously announced Kilo Vee and noctilucents for a night of forward-thinking club music. If their SoundCloud is any indication, 100% Halal’s DJ set promises slick dembow rhythms and smooth autotuned vocals.

Joining a slew of experimental artists hailing from Southeast Asia within the Nusasonic initiative are Marta Zapparoli, Raed Yassin, Andrea Neumann, and Sabine Ercklentz. Together, they take part in Kombo, a night of improvisation initiated by the formidable Rully Shabara of Senyawa. 

Celebrated turntablists Martin Tétreault & dieb13 deliver a special performance for the opening of the CTM 2019 Exhibition, which will also feature Berlin Community Radio affiliate Perila. 

A member of Berlin’s raw body music collective Fleisch, Zanias’ sonic arsenal is comprised of industrial rhythms, grating textures, and unearthly vocals. At CTM, she will be setting the mood and weaving DJ sets of EBM, acid, industrial, and anything dark throughout the previously-announced night of live experimental noise at Säule.

Promising all good things techno and bass is Gigsta, the Room 4 Resistance resident and host of Fictions on Cashmere Radio. 

Friends of the festival Angel (of Hyperreality), Nyege Nyege Tapes co-founder Moroto Hvy Ind, Subtext signee xin, and Kasymin from Gabber Modus Operandi join the CTM 2019 after-party lineup. They will play alongside the previously announced Yves Tumor, who will join us again for a DJ set.

After six years of activity, our partner Berlin Community Radio will be closing their doors. As a way to mark the end of our ongoing partnership we’re pleased to announce one final collaboration that will see CTM 2019 artists elaborate on their music and projects live from BCR’s studio before and during the festival. The full CTM x BCR broadcast programme will be announced next week.

As always, CTM takes place parallel to and in collaboration with transmediale/festival. Our jointly organised Vorspiel 2019 programme will launch on 18 January at ACUD Macht Neu, opening a city-wide programme that features 58 Berlin-based artists, initiatives, and venues.
