The Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop was founded in 2006 by Michael Rauter und Julian Kuerti. With Tilman Kanitz as the artistic director, the ensemble creates musical theatre productions and innovative concert experiences in which the members appear as musicians as well as performers.
The ensemble’s repertoire ranges from early baroque to contemporary music and also includes self-developed musical and theatrical concepts of their own. Kaleidoskop works in close collaboration with Berlin-based Radialsystem V and is a regular guest at international festivals such as the Kunstfest Weimar, KunstFestSpiele Herrenhausen, Sydney Festival, Holland Festival, Operadhoy Madrid, Wien Modern, and Donaueschinger Musiktage. Kaleidoskop was also ensemble-in-residence at the Sommerliche Musiktage in Hitzacker and the Klarafestival in Belgium. The ensemble has performed at venues such as the Concertgebouw Brugge, Harpa in Reykjavik, Hellerau – European Center for the Arts in Dresden, Kampnagel in Hamburg, Berghain in Berlin, and the Philharmonie in Berlin. Over the course of its artistic commitment, Kaleidoskop has worked together with artists such as Sasha Waltz, Sabrina Hölzer, Jennifer Walshe, Georg Nussbaumer, Laurent Chétouane, Sebastian Claren, and Mouse on Mars and recorded works by Joseph Haydn, Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Friedrich Haas, Iannis Xenakis,Claude Vivier, and Giovanni Sollima on the Sony and ARS Produktion labels.
The ensemble is supported by the cultural administration of the federal state of Berlin.
