Philip Vermeulen is a young and upcoming artist from The Hague. He studied at the ArtScience Interfaculty at the Royal Conservatory & The Royal Academy of the Arts in The Hague, NL.
Vermeulen is dedicated to discovering primary phenomena in various forms of media: sound, light, physics, and nature. He interacts with these media playfully and provocatively, isolates the ensuing reactions, and then zooms in on these discoveries and creates compositions with them. He builds setups and immersive installations that provoke experiences and question viewers’ senses by transporting them into another world.
Vermeulen has participated in exhibitions at The Wild @W19 (Amsterdam), Ars Electronica (Linz), 1st industrial Art Biennial Croatia, TodaysArt (The Hague), WeArePublic (The Hague), iii's No Patent Pending The Hague), and European affairs at bunker Sztuki (Krakow).
