Lamin Fofana is an electronic producer and artist. His instrumental electronic music contrasts the reality of our world with what's beyond and explores questions of movement, migration, alienation, and belonging. He is from Sierra Leone, lived in Guinea, United States, and currently located in Berlin.
In 2014, Fofana self-released the glistening sounds of his First Symphony EP, a 12-minute venture through atmospheric, cosmic textures and fractured techno percussion. 2015 saw the release of EP Another World, which in Fofana’s words “convey[s] a certain mood, a feeling of being adrift at sea somewhere between catastrophe and paradise.” Through the release, Fofana considers the plight of African migrants as they brave winter in their journeys to Europe, as well as the failures of European governments in protecting them.
Fofana’s debut album Doubleworld follows this train of thought, exploring questions of migration, movement, alienation, and belonging. The album follows the aftermath of Ebola’s outbreak in West Africa in 2014, and responds to discomforting realities of our contemporary climate.
