Alexis Waltz studied art history, cultural studies, and philosophy in Berlin with Christina von Braun, Friedrich Kittler, and Horst Bredekamp, among others. In his Masters degree, he specialised in Wim Wenders’ road movies.
In the late nineties, Waltz immersed himself into Berlin´s electronic music scene. He ran the DaimlerChrysler Bar in Berlin-Mitte, hosted the BEZ after hour parties with Zip and Ricardo Villalobos, and dabbled in DJing. Since discovering his passion for writing about electronic music, he has written countless articles, lectures, and radio shows for newspapers, music magazines, and books, among them Groove and Spex Magazine, The Red Bull Music Academy Magazine, reboot.fm, Süddeutsche Zeitung, and Goethe Institute.
