Classically trained in music, Higginbottom grew up in London under the healthy influence of musicians, with his own father residing as professor of music at Oxford University. Becoming exposed to electronic music in his early teens through the audio cassettes of his siblings, Higginbottom quickly developed an interest in vinyl. By the age of 13 he was beginning to experiment with DJing, and later music production while attending the Junior Royal Academy of Music.

In 2009, Higginbottom created the Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (TEED) alias in an effort to inject lightness and colour into what he perceived as an all too serious and ego-centric world of dance music. The costumed persona that appears in most of the artist’s videos and stage shows became a natural extension of the playful name he had adopted. Marking his debut on Joe Goddard’s (of Hot Chip) Greco-Roman label in 2009, Higginbottom and his dinosaur released the melodic breakbeat All in One Sixty Dancehalls EP, followed by EPs All in Two Sixty Dancehalls and Household Goods in 2010.

In 2012 TEED’s work was picked up by Polydor for the Trouble release, and in 2013 a compilation of music selected and mixed by TEED was released on Crosstown Rebels. By 2014, Higginbottom launched a cross-platform label called Nice Age with his first collaborative release, "Feels Like,” with Anna Lunoe. Higginbottom has toured the world with his TEED project, headlining at huge festivals including Glastonbury, Lollapalooza, Secret Garden Party, Sonar, ADE, and more.
