Michael Wick is a photographer and media artist based in Berlin. He graduated from Berlin's Neue Schule für Fotografie in 2019. His practice centres on the relationship between society and technology and internet subcultures.
He also collaborates with artist Elena Bianco in their joined long-term project Ikonoklash, which uncovers the narrative possibilities of masks, bodies, and environments. In his work, Wick invites the audience to explore human perspectives which are usually difficult to identify with. Instead of dismissal, he promotes a more empathic approach to the world view of niche groups that are often looked down upon. By using humour and immersion, he sheds light on the harsh realities of individuals that otherwise are kept private or are being hidden away in the depths of the deep web.
